Decent Media Protects Citizens’ Dignity: President Paudel
Kathmandu. President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized that the dignity and respect of ordinary citizens can only be preserved through the responsible role of the media. He highlighted the importance of Press Council Nepal in achieving this goal.
During a meeting with the Council’s officials at the President’s Office, Shital Niwas, on Monday, President Paudel advised the Council to focus on addressing the challenges posed by new media. The delegation, led by Council President Balkrishna Basnet, discussed recent trends, issues, and emerging practices in the Nepali media landscape.
President Basnet shared that the Council is taking steps to regulate media outlets operating through social media platforms, including YouTube. He mentioned that the Council has initiated various dialogue series aimed at making the future of journalism more solution-oriented and innovative.
Alongside President Basnet, board members Durga Bhandari Paudel, Lalbabu Shesh, Ram Prasad Dahal, and chief officer Jhabindra Bhusal represented the Council at the meeting. President Paudel’s press adviser, Kiran Pokharel, was also in attendance.
